Introduction

Sati Shankar (full name: Sati Shankar Dutta Pandey, Ph.D.) is an independent Indian scholar, applied mathematician, and researcher whose work explores relationships between classical intellectual traditions and contemporary theoretical sciences. He is the founder of the Global Synergetic Foundation (GSFN), an interdisciplinary research and publishing initiative established in 1992 in New Delhi, India.

He is the principal author of the research programme represented in the Astitva Archive, an open scholarly publication platform (ISSN 2454-602X) maintained by GSFN for the dissemination of interdisciplinary research examining the conceptual foundations of knowledge, existence, and consciousness.

Academic Formation

His academic formation spans both the natural sciences and the humanities. He received his Bachelor's degree in 1981 (First Class First in Institution) from the University of Gorakhpur with studies in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, and Philosophy, including Symbolic Logic as well as Indian and Western philosophical traditions.

He subsequently pursued postgraduate studies in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, earning his Master's degree in 1983 as First in Order of Merit and recipient of both the Wagle Gold Medal and the BHU Gold Medal.

His doctoral research (Ph.D., BHU, 1991) examined the intersecting domains of Mathematical Control Systems, the Economics of Information, and Psycho-physiological Behavioural Science, with particular focus on decision-making and organisational structures.

Research Orientation

His research investigates conceptual structures embedded in Vedic knowledge traditions and explores their philosophical significance for contemporary discussions in mathematics, cognition, cosmology, and philosophy of science.

The work frequently combines close textual analysis of Vedic and classical Indian sources with systematic philosophical and analytical reasoning.

A central intellectual framework guiding this research is expressed in the conceptual cycle:

Astitva → Vedic-Hṛdaya-Cakṣu → Svagarbhā → Astitva

Professional and Scholarly Affiliations

He has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society (Great Britain and Ireland) and has held membership in several scholarly bodies including the Indian Mathematical Society, Indian Econometric Society, Indian Association of General Relativity and Gravitation, Indian Science Congress Association, Indian Philosophical Congress, and the Wider Association for Vedic Studies.

He has also been associated with the Econometric Society (US), the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), the Institute of Physics (IOP), and IEEE.

Publications

His current research publications are available through the Astitva Archive maintained by the Global Synergetic Foundation.
